BGC#66- Mixed Media with Bipasha !

Hello..Hello Helloo Wonderful bloggers!!! It's Bipasha with you here  :)
How have you been doing??
You all might have been enjoying our current challenge and March is already in its last week!!!!!
I  have been following all your creations linked to our Mr Linky tool for our ongoing challenge "Mixed Media".. and they all are soo mind-boggling! We are sure to have a very tough time deciding our BGC#66 winners ;)

So Mixed media it is this time! That is, creating a visual art using more than one medium. It has been always my favourite forte. I have been really interested in trying different art elements as well as inks to create dimensional artworks...and hence came up with a little inspiration for all you crafty people this weekend!

Let me first quickly walk you through the challenge guidelines ...

Make a mixed media project using more than one medium (gesso, mist, ink, gel medium, texture paste, paint). It has to be visible in your work.

Mention what kind of medium you used in your post .
Your project must be new and must have been done after our challenge announcement.

Deadline to enter: 31th March 2015 until 11:55 PM IST.

N.B. Please go through the challenge guidelines carefully to qualify your entry for the challenge and who knows! You can be a winner and win amazing goodies from our generous sponsors!!

Now onto my inspiration:

A mixed media card it is!

And here is the overall look:

RECIPE:
1.I used a plain off white card for the background.
2.Glued two cut out paper pyramids from the gorgeous "Prima's Romance Novel" diagonally in two opposite corners.
3. Stamped and spattered  randomly in the mid region with the colour blooms, some beads, etc
4.Once I am happy with the BG, I started altering my elements to match my BG. I chalk painted the mdf frame into black and stamped a butterfly and some scripts onto it using Prima's white chalk ink. Also, I splattered randomly with my mahagony distress stain spray on the selected die-cuts.
5.Next, I glued down all the elements using  Prima's 3D gloss and yes! Its done :)

Mixed media ingredients: (mediums used)
Colour blooms, archival blank ink, chalkboard paint, chalk ink, distress stain spray, 3D gloss

Thanks for stopping by :)
Hope my creation inspires you and don't forget to play along with us here

Much love xx

Playing with Dies~a tutorial ! with Bipasha

Hello... Wonderful crafters

This is Bipasha with you. Aren't you enjoying our challenge already with the gorgeous inspirations shared by the talented DTs?? I have spent a real crafty time this month with new creations and loved going through all the projects added to the Mr. linky for the ongoing challenge....You do mesmerize us every time with your creativity. :)

Now coming onto sharing a little crafty technique for today....

I thought of making a project experimenting the versatile use of our different dies in an innovative way. This project has a very close connection to my heart. I am quite happy with the end results and hopefully you would love the plot too.

Technique recipe:
I used 4 die cuts of Cherry Lynn 's Wedding Vows, cut out of ivory sheets. I cut out the couples from the designed frames, hence we are left with 4 layers of each.

I also, cut out 4 strips of hard card stock which will act as the support ribs for my altar. Yes you hear it right ! We are making an wedding altar :). The strips are folded in halves lengthwise and glued down to build the pretty altar...doesn't it look elegant already?

And here the couple goes layered to create a dimensional effect and stands pretty and high in our beautiful altar.

Next, we cut out two bases: one for the roof and the other for the floor.
So yes its as easy as that and we are done !

I don't believe there is any technique for embellishing or decorating your project because I think each of your hearts will do the job better and in an unique way...

This is how my heart expressed its feeling inspired by the colours of this month's challenge theme...

Use this simple recipe and play with your wedding dies or any similar frames and surprise yourself, creativity is endless...ain't it ?

Thankyou for looking into the project and would love to see your precious feed-backs or answer your queries, if any. I am just a comment away :)

Signing off for today, Happy crafting,
Bipasha

BGC#53 - Stamping (On fabric) and misting with PJ

Hello my dear friends !
I just got back from my 3 week vacation and i'm feeling refreshed !
Meanwhile the girls here at BGC were busy creating some really good projects for you
according to the challenge theme thats been running all JUNE !

So now u know the rules but let me just repeat theme again

challenge guidelines:

Challenge duration- 1st june to 30th june (Full Month)

  • Make any project that fits into the categories below

1. Cards ONLY

2. Layouts ONLY

3. Everything else - 3D crafts, Popup boxes , Altered art , mixed media , Canvas , Hangings etc. Anything paper crafts.

  • You must have visible Misting on the face of your project - Any kind of misting will do for example - Using mists like Lindy's stamp gang or color bloom by prima etc,  Making a splatter with a paint brush , Using a tooth brush with water colors to create a nice misting on your project.
  • Your project must show Stamping on Fabric !  Its time to pick and experiment with any type of fabric and see how your stamps work on them. !
Simple enough !

Please note that we reserve rights to disqualify any entry that doesn't follow the rules .
Thank you

Ok with all that understood ! Lets move on to my project.
I went for 3. Everything else category
And altered a medicine box.

This is how the box looked before.

And this is how it turned out !

  •  I started by pasting some text scripted paper on the sides of the box.

Which you can see perfectly in the above picture.
  • I then made a mixture of 1 part white glue with 1/2 part water and mixed it well .
  • I used this mixture for sticking tissue on the top of my box. This gave me some real good texture to play with.
  • After all the tissue sticking i let it dry for about 2hrs .
  • Once dry i misted my textured surface with mists . (Lindy's stamp gang and cosmic shimmer.) That gave me my background to work on.

  •  I then used this nice and slightly shimmery fabric piece in rectangle to stamp my sentiment. Here is a TIP- when working with loosely woven fabrics like what i used ,keep a crisp piece of paper underneath before you stamp. This should give you a good image.
  • The fabric piece looks a little lifted due to the texture beneath it. It is stuck in place with Glue dots as foam dots would have showed from underneath.

  •  I then embellished my box with flowers , die cuts , distressed mesh cloth ,and some metal embellishments.

Here is a closer look at the flowers !
I made all of them myself except the peach and the baby pink rose .

Hope that you enjoyed my post and you are inspired to join us in this challenge .
If so then just pick a category and jump in !!
