A brief input on what Argyle is
The argyle pattern is made of diamonds or lozenges. The word is sometimes used to refer to an individual diamond in the design but more commonly refers to the overall pattern.An example of Argyle is given below

To me the best example of this challenge would be this drawer chest card.
Its so amazing and creative and innovative.
I love the paraphernalia... and it reminds me of all the teenagers and me ..today !! :D
look at the adorable bikini, d spectacles. The genius lies in the overall chest ..is that a spellbinder die.

Brenda..

Well....well...well...its not a card. Its a the latest vogue ..with its fashion tips. ;)

The stilettos, the moulin rouge inspired corset and the dresses are just about every girl's dream.

I am so in love with everything here.

Its an unusual looking card where the chaos is of an adolescents' mind !! :D How right ..and apt.

Jovi's card is extremely interactive.

Extremely adorable flowery clips..which are quilled.

Jov the clips are extremely cute. The blue vellum pocket is extremely innovative and functional. Love the card and the sentiment and the fantastic clips .. ofcourse. :).

Snehal
This clutch bag style card and envelope is simply fabulous. The embossing is a cut above the rest and the wood veneer .. well what can I say ?? Its just the creative people who could come up with something so uhhhmazing and mind blowing. Snehal I would carry this over a chanel !!! And thats sayin' something.. !

I love love love the colour of the card. Very unusual choice. I also love simplicity of this card and the dress.. well this stamp was always on my "things to buy" list. The delicate colours and the trim make this an elegant and dainty card. oh and the frosted brads are sheer divinity .. :)

Then its the humble whiteness and blandness from my side. I know .. It sucks in front of all the other creations ..so be it ! :(

Hello again everyone. I have started my

Whats Up Crafty post with a lovely smiling

face. To make me feel a little better. This will

be my last post in this segment as DT for

Beyond Grey Challenges. :( :( :(

I'm afraid my time is coming to an end.

As much as I would love to stay on I have some

other matters that I need to spend some time on.

I have LOVED my time here. Pooja and the rest

of the DT girls are awesome. Everyone is very

talented and wonderful inspirations. I will keep

coming back to Beyond Grey Challenges and join

in on some here so please keep an eye out for me

and my entries. Any time pop on over to my blog,

I would love to see you.

I have to keep coming back also so I can see what

you have all been up to with your wonderful designs.

I have loved looking at each and every submission. It has

all been so much fun. Now back to my Whats Up Crafty?

These two cards I have made with my scraps.

My New Years resolution was to use up my scraps

where ever I could. I have colored them with my

Stampin` Up chalks. To make things stand out a

little more I have used my markers around the edge

of the papers. I used dimension tables on the stamps

to stand them out from the card.

These cards are simple but fun to make. They are always

good to have in the draw for the forgotten Birthday etc.

If anyone else is like me it happens. I then get out a card

and no one knows I have forgotten them. The following

are a couple more I have done in the last month.

I have loved working with you all. You are wonderful people

and so talented. Maybe some time I can come back. I'm sure

you wont miss my lengthy emails LOL. It is hard to let go of

Hi everyone !

welcome back to our newest challenge :)

First of all i would like to thank all of u who participated in the summery fresh birthday challenge.

We really enjoyed your creations :)

Now I am back with another challenging task for you.

The current challenge is

Oh So Knotty !

This challenge has 2 parts to it. (Please read carefully to avoid confusion)

You are free to make any paper crafted project , card or layout as long as

1. Your project has a KNOT (or many knots) of some kind on it .
It can be ribbons, twins, fabric, jute or anything that can be knotted .

2. Your project needs to be a complete black project with only Maroon or shades of maroon color on it, that means Maroon should stand out on black.
Neutrals like white, Kraft and beige are allowed but in limited amount.

Now that is sorted ,

I embossed my card and then went for the chalkboard look.
I also love the look this spellbinders die (oval) creates when its layered.
The flower is handmade . (Sorry bout the color, the flower somehow looks a red when i click its pic.. its a lighter and brighter shade of maroon.)

Whats up crafty? - Just a suitcase!

We are still waiting for the summer to arrive here in Sweden. Some of us are planning our vacations and that's why I wanted to show you this suitcase I've made. (I'm sorry for only showing you some iPhone pictures. I promise I will update this post when I've taken some real pictures of it.)

Me, my sister and our partners gave my mother a trip to Greece last autumn. She celebrated her 70th birthday in april and because I'm taking my exam now we wanted to travel together a bit earlier. So for her birthday I made a photo book with photos from our trip in iPhoto and had it printed by Apple. Then I made this suitcase and put the photo book in it.

The photo book inside the suitcase.

On the inside I've used one of my stamps from Magnolia called Water lily Tilda. She's so cute and actually look a bit like my mother with that hair. :) I've colored her with distress ink and only used the color vintage photo.

The text is in Swedish and means "Congratulations on your 70th birthday & thank you for a fantastic week in Greece! Hugs from Ebba & Hasse, Mia." I've used the sketch pens for my Silhouette Cameo to write the text and I've also cut the numbers with the Cameo. Can't live without it!

First out is Pooja with her lovely France inspired card. Those colors just makes me so happy! I'm from Sweden and I have to say I like the Swedish colors on the buttons. :)

The next one is Brenda with this gorgeous layout of her boy Harley. She has used so many buttons!! I love it! The colors goes so well with the photos of Harley.

And now, the cutes smile ever! Jovita is the creator of this wonderful layout. It's so simple and pure and I like how she has used the buttons on the flowers. That makes the layout so lively.

Next up is Lucille with her beutiful card. Look how she has used the colors from the rose in her papers. Perfect match! Very nice work!

Whats Up Crafty? - A gift for my mother.

Hello everyone. Sorry this is a little late. I had to put a few little

finishing touches on it. This is a mini photo album I have made

for my mother for Mothers Day. My mother is a very special

person in my life. She is very sick and I just adore every thing

about her and every minute I get to spend with her. With Mothers

Day just being around the corner I knew this would be the one

thing I wanted to share with you all. For me the beautiful angle

on the front (from Kaiser Craft) represents and angle to look after

my mother. For those times when I can't be there.

Some of the things I have used for this Off The Page album are

from Kaiser Craft. It has been made with one of their timber

projects and I have covered it with their papers and also used

Kaiser bling, pearls, collectables and basic rub-ons.

This is the second page and as you can see they are very

old photos as my mother is now 70 and she is very limited

to her photos. My mother was born in Holland and these

two photos were taken with her mother (Oma) and father

(Opa). Even though not very clear I know she is going to

love this page.

Some of the other things I have used on this album are

flowers from Scraptopia, Colorbok Memory craft stickers

and Maya Road patterned papers.

This photo of my mother I can remember being taken. I was

only you and at the time my dad was taking lots of photos of

all my family and developing them himself. I just love this

photo of her she was so happy.

The ornamental oval frame is from Cre8tive and the

flowers are from Portacraft. My mother just loves

daffodils. Other Cre8tive products I used were

textured boarders, run-on Icons and alphabets.

The photos of this last page haven't come up as good as I wanted.

I will have another go in a couple of days and see if I can get them

just a little better than this. Sorry.

This photo was taken of my mother when dad and her went traveling

around Australia for 6 months. They just loved it. Mum come home

so healthy, relaxed and sporting a great tan. This was a fish she caught

herself and said it was so yummy. She also told dad to hurry with the

photo as the fish was getting heavy.

Well I hope you have enjoyed my What's Up Crafty? I also hope

you have enjoyed seeing my beautiful mother/grandmother

to my two boys.I'm sure from time to time if you pop on over

to my blog you will get to see more of her. Mothers are such

special people. I hope all the Mothers out there get to spend the

day with their beautiful mothers like I will be and my boys with me.

BGC #28 ALL BOY/MASCULINE

All boy/ Masculine Challenge.

This challenge is all about the boys and or men in our lives. It doesn't matter if it's a card, scrap booking layout or off the page project. All you have to do is get the creative juices flowing and come up with an all boy/masculine project.

What a great guy card. She has done some great stamping of the guys pocket watch. The photo film and camera match the word Smile perfectly. The colors are just great, real guy. Pooja has made an awesome very masculine card.

SNEHAL

Check out this wonderful name plate the very talented Snehal has made. The design is so great any little boy would love it. Dora and Diego are loved by all the boys including mine. The papers, Echo Park go so well and she sure did pick a very, very cheeky Diego with the shangi. What boy wouldn't love that.

LUCILLE

Now it's Lucille's turn and what a great card. This is boy all the way. The colors are great and I love the vintage look. I cant help but smile when I look at the dog and the little boy. The banner at the top goes so nice and is a great mix with old and a slight modern look. What an inspiring card.

JOVITA

Now we have Jovita with a wonderful scrap booking layout. Like most of us she had blue in her head the minute boy/ masculine was mentioned. I must say what an awesome job she did to stay away from the blue. Her colors look great and what a beautiful boy she has to work with. Just check out that lovely smile.

Wow, check out these colors and design. what an inspiring card, all boy all the way. Ebba has told me that in Sweden at 15 you have the legal right to ride a moped. The spanners and nuts go so well with the age on the card. I just love the big number 15 too. This is a very eye catching card.

Now we come to my layout and I have chosen to scrap my boys. Not that anyone would have guessed that. I used some photo booth film strip snaps I had of my boys and one of their friends being silly (as boys do). I liked the orange, black and neutral colors. Like Jovita I stayed away from the normal blue we all think of.

KALINDI

Ok now this was worth the wait. Kalindi has done a great

job of this card. So masculine, and so much speaks love.

The color is great along with the punching and hearts. It

is a card any guy would love.

Hey there :)
Off late its been all about shabby chic and honestly I have been pretty anxious about trying it. You need to a be a wee bit daring in life I gather..
My trial turned out to be a risky affair. Sacrificing a wooden box seems risky in my case ..
But would you be the judge of it ?? Tell me if I ruined it or made it through..
I would love to hear from you guys..
so yeah...there's a flower made out of sheer ribbon I have hoarded for centuries..
The leaves yet again ..ribbon ..hoarded for epochs..

A kind benevolent friend and owner of Craft Adda online craft store (Read Khyati Kothari) was kind and sweet enough to send me these clay cameos that she made.. and I am floored and feel fortunate.

I used distress inks to colour it..

Oh and how can I ever forget the Tim Holtz Idea-o-logy book knobs..

Mahh... they are gorgeous..and to fit one of those on the lid was nothing less than agony.

Imagine using an awl like something (read animal dissection instruments from 2002) for want of better tools and constantly poking it and chafing the lid to create a hole big enough to fit the screw for the knob.

Pure Agony !!

My thumb gave up on me as a gripping limb.

Forget that.. I used some vintage paper..with victorian roses on it. It looked effin..awesome without embellishment.

Let me just think ...how many techniques did I use.. ?

Hmm...there's flower making ..Decoupage...distressing..woodwork..paper piecing ..and so on. Phew..thats whats wrong with me.. its d OCD.

Trust me the flowers are gorgeous when you see them for real.the pictures ruin the look. They almost look tacky.

The cameo is very english...

I even found some vintage lace from my Grandmum's needlework collection. The wooden box was coated in several layers of inks and acrylics and finally the complete box was sprayed with varnish for longevity..so the magenta which you see on the wood is a layer of acrylic that was distressed with a sandpaper.

To finish off .. my usual trademark..some pearl flourishes. Oh and the inside of the box was covered in paper too. I like it for my first attempt. But what I like the most is the fact that this work will survive the test of few years. The permanence is appealing don't you think ?

It breaks my heart when my creations or for that matter..anything handmade gathers dust and deteriorates.

Anyway thats it from me.. I hope you like it...and I also wish to know if it qualifies as shabby chic..

Whats Up Crafty - Tutorial and Card

Hi there.

So today its Jovita here sharing whats on my craft table (to be specific ... dining table) these days..

Recently I did an order for Tissue Pom poms (also referred to as flowers ) . As I searched tutorial after tutorial I realized one thing, I just ended up making tissue apples :(...... I made apple shaped pom poms instead of the nice fluffy round ones..

This reference picture was given to me and I just could not get it right till I figured out something.. So that is what I am gonna share with you all today... To make a perfect 10 inch pom pom here is what you need

5 sheets tissue paper (locally called Kite Paper) - Full size

Wire - used for flower making

Thread - to hang the pom pom

First we have to fold the paper in half and cut it across.

So now we have 10 sheets of tissue laying one over the other.

Place the paper VERTICALLY (as seen in the picture) .

Vertically is important to avoid apple shaped pom poms

Then you start making a fan fold about an inch apart and this is what you get. Tie the center with the wire and then the thread. You can use a transparent thread available in the local stationery.

It is important to tie the thread at this stage, as once we fluff the pom pom it would be difficult to tie the thread

The next step would be to round the corner edges with a scissor. You can even cut it in a V shape as per your preference.

Once done rounding the edges we can start pulling up the layers...to start getting the fluff

and after pulling up all the layers this is what you get... Yummy fluffed pom poms....

So with this technique I made 150 pom poms in colors Pink, Yellow and Turquoise Blue... It was such a riot of colors...

You can use these pom poms as a party decor... They really look lovely.

Hope you like this tutorial.

Make them in different sizes and colors and hang around.

Whats up crafty? - Distress ink tutorial

Hi everyone!

I don't want to interrupt you in your crafting for our ongoing challenge, but I think it's good to sometime take a short brake. ;)

Today I would like to share my favorite thing when it comes to scrapbooking and card making, a tutorial of how I'm coloring. I love to color stamped images for the cards I make. I mostly use digital stamps because it's easier to change the size of the image and I don't have to wait for the postman. :) I'm so impatient.... But I do have some rubber stamps too.

When I'm coloring I use Distress Ink Reinkers from Ranger that is a water-based dye ink. You can also use the Distress Ink pads if you prefer and now they also have the same colors as Distress Markers. When you're coloring you only need a tiny drop of the color you want to use. You can use an acrylic block or another plastic thing as your palette because the color will not dry as long as you have it on any plastic.

This is how the Distress Ink Reinkers looks like.

When coloring with Distress Ink I use Canson 200 g aquarelle paper and a synthetic brush. I recommend a brush with a fine tip for the details. Right now I'm using a size 2 from da vinci, but I would recommend a finer one, size 0 or 00. I'm looking for a new brush that I like but haven't found anyone yet. If you have anyone you can recommend, please let me know. When I'm coloring I also have water near me so I can clean my brush and some kitchen paper to dry my brush with.

I start with stamping the image I want to use with Memorize dye inkpad. Of course you can use another one but it's important that it's waterproof. For my tutorial I've used a stamp from Magnolia which I think is called Flower girl with petals.

It's important that the brush is damp and not wet so don't take to much water on it. I start to color where I want the color to be darkest. In this case I begin with tattered rose as a first layer for her skin.

After that I clean my brush with water and make sure it's still damp. Then I start to draw the color out from the edge with circular movements. All the time I take the excess ink of my brush. Then I go on and draw the color out until it's smooth and I can't see any edges. I continue to color her neck.

I start where I want the shadow and draw the ink out with circular movements. If you get to much ink on your paper you can just pick it up on your brush and wipe it off. (Sorry for the lamp that causes the yellow tint on her feet)

I use the same color for her arms and legs and then I go on and color her dress. It's important to let the ink dry before you color the nearby parts, so that the ink doesn't bleed.

The color I use for her dress is named Milled lavender. Maybe you think now that the color is to pale. But it's better to paint another layer if you want it to be darker because it's not that easy to get a dark layer undone. On this image I've also colored Tilda's shoes with Pumice stone.

I don't want you to fall asleep so I've tried to hold the amount of pictures down. It's just a few more....

For the first layer of her hair I use Antique linen. I leave some parts of her hair uncolored so it's still white where I want the light to fall. When I take some water on the ink it will bleed out so it's not that white but still brighter.

And for the second layer I use Walnut stain. In the video you can see how I'm coloring the third layer in the same way using Vintage photo. Here I've also made a second layer on her skin using the color named Tea dye, I make it exactly the same way as I did with tattered rose.

And this is the result.

As a bonus I've made a video where you can see how I'm coloring. :)

I hope you like my tutorial and remember that this is just my way of doing this. There's so many ways of coloring and you have to find your own.

I am a big Movie buff and so naturally this was my first choice for the challenge.So all I am asking you to do is be inspired by a Movie....it can be the poster or a character or the story .You take your pick and make a CAS( Clean and Simple) card with that in mind .Simple? Nah .....I set the challenge and took the maximum time to come up with my card.But believe me its just the thinking part which takes maximum time.the execution doesn't.

And what do we have for the winner?

She made this cute card inspired by one of my favorite movies Karate Kid.Such a perfect card for any kid and what fabulous coloring skills she has!

I also loved the sentiment and the fun way she placed it.Gorgeous pattern papers and fantastic coloring is a recipe for a perfect card. One helluva Kickin job Brenda.

I dunno a single soul who didn't like Lion King and our lady here is inspired by Lion King and depicts that in her very cute card with one of the characters.Those cute banners and the lyrics Hakuna Matata add that edge to this beautiful card.You rock Ebba so do your fingers.

Awesome coloring and fabulous cutting.Hakuna Matata in Swahili means - There are no worries.You have to agree with me that this is a perfect choice for an image which echoes this sentiment.

JOVITA

Our lovely lady was inspired by MADAGASCAR and made this very very WILD card.I love the sentiment and it is a very unusual card for someone you have a soft corner for and a very clever one too.

That's what I like about it .It is wicked and delicious.

I am not surprised to see this elegant and very chic card by our graceful Pooja.

Chevrons.... a ballerina in black....a very classy sentiment and pearls and what you have is a elegant card.

she is inspired by the movie Black swan and what an interpretation.!

And now from this very talented lady we have a card inspired by the movie Finding Nemo.She has this very unpredictable persona and style which intrigues me.You can never identify Kalindi with a particular style She is very very versatile.And the proof is this beautiful card she created with this cool background and those cute pouty fishes.And the handwritten sentiment is ohhh so kewl.!

And finally its me with this simple card inspired by Chicken Little.Lets say I chickened out after setting this challenge and this one not only is inspired by my choice of movie but also by my state.
